Description
Pay special attention to other writers’ voices: how they build up their arguments, how they support them, how they communicate them to readers. In 400 words, (1) Find a particular passage (a paragraph or a few sentences) in which you think the author(s) are making an argument of their own. (2) Discuss what argument the author(s) are making in that part, how they advance that argument, what texts they build on, etc. As I said in the beginning, think of the prompt as a writing exercise in which you get the chance to think about your own writing.
